Percussive is a channel strip specifically designed for processing and mixing percussion elements.
The new standard for drum mixing
Rather than relying on a long chain of processors, Percussive provides the most commonly used tools for shaping kicks, snares, loops, drums, and other rhythmic elements in a fast and intuitive workflow. Combining equalization, saturation, transient shaping, sustain control, and clipping within a single interface, the plugin was built to streamline workflow and simplify mixing decisions.
Tone
The Tone section was designed to provide fast and intuitive results. Inspired by classic analog equalizers, its curves have been carefully tuned to meet the most common demands of percussion mixing. 60 Hz / 100 Hz (Low Shelf): Designed to add weight, depth, and impact. 200 Hz / 500 Hz (Bell): A frequency range often used to tame low-mid resonances and buildup that can reduce overall mix clarity. 1000 Hz / 3000 Hz (Bell): A key frequency range for shaping definition, presence, and perceived attack. 5000 Hz / 10000 Hz (High Shelf): Adds brightness, openness, and air.
Drive
The Drive section enhances the signal with additional character, density, and energy through two distinct saturation modes. Mode I: Inspired by classic transformer-based analog circuitry, it generates rich harmonic content and increased depth, delivering greater weight, presence, and tonal character. Mode II: Inspired by the sonic characteristics of magnetic tape saturation, it increases density while subtly rounding transients, creating a smoother, more cohesive, and fuller sound.
Dynamics
Attack: The Attack control acts as a dedicated transient shaper, enhancing the initial impact of the signal without relying on compression or additional processing stages. Sustain: The Sustain control adjusts the perceived decay and sustain of the signal. Clipper: The Clipper module was carefully optimized for percussion processing. Make-Up: The Make-Up control provides post-processing gain compensation, allowing you to restore or fine-tune the output level after clipping.
