Unobtainable Analog Hardware, near 1:1 Recreation

The First and Only 1057 plugin

The 1057 may be the rarest, most expensive preamp & equalizer in existence - and for good reason!

Only 1 console with these preamps was ever shipped to the US (custom-made for Chicago Sound Studio in 1968).

The console's 16-channel strips were later purchased and racked by producer Michael Beinhorn in the 1990s, and used to record Soundgarden’s 'Superunknown', Marilyn Manson’s 'Mechanical Animals', Hole’s 'Celebrity Skin', Ozzy Osbourne’s 'Ozzmosis', and other classics. Upon hearing the units for the first time, Beinhorn said he had “never heard such depth, dimension, or impact...as if the drums were jumping out of the speaker.” With a pair of early prototypes recently listed for over $60,000, and Beinhorn's original 16-units currently sitting at $170,000 at auction, these units are the pinnacle of vintage "unobtainium." No plugin developer has even attempted to recreate these units in software form - until now!

The SA1057 is a near 1:1 recreation of the original unit.

Carefully recreated with Neural Amp Modeling (NAM)

Each line input gain setting utilizes a distinct neural model - maximizing versatility and ensuring the original unit is faithfully represented.

Meticulously Designed EQ Filters

Painstakingly Measured and Modeled

The SA1057 utilizes traditional DSP to recreate the shape, Q-value, range, and variability of the original unit's design.

Classic Sound, Modern Ammendities

A gain-compensated drive function opens up a huge range of sonic possibilities, while 2x oversampling ensures an accurate top-end, even when using aggressive settings. A Mono mode reduces the neural models from 2 to 1, cutting the CPU in half when processing single-channel signals.

WARNING!

The SA1057 is NOT like other plugins

The NAM technology running behind the scenes is very CPU-intensive. Neural Amp Modeling results in the most accurate and nuanced recreation of audio hardware, but it may be too taxing for older computers. Lower fidelity neural models reduce CPU, but at the expense of quality. For that reason, Sage Audio plugins only use the highest quality captures. Although most modern computers can handle at least 3 instances of our stereo NAM plugins, please try the 14-Day-Trial first.
